Tim Davis

Managing Director & CEO

Tim brings to the team over 25 years of accounting, taxation and commercial experience with private clients and small to medium sized businesses.

Tim is passionate about the people behind the numbers, and enjoys helping his clients achieve their business and personal financial goals. From time to time, he has fulfilled roles as contract CEO / CFO in a client’s business to directly steer them on track to deliver profit and other key targets.

With a wealth of experience across a diverse range of commercial fields, Tim is sought after for his business and commercial advice. He also has specialist skills in facilitating complex business transactions (that is, sales / purchases / business mergers) as well as client engagements in the leadership / planning / strategic direction and vision space.

Tim is a Chartered Accountant, and has an Accounting Degree from the UQ.

Shona Sherman

Director of Superannuation; Practice Manager

Shona was awarded a Bachelor of Business with an Accounting Major and Wealth Management and Superannuation Minor from Queensland University of Technology. She is a registered tax agent, a Member of the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), holds a Public Practice Certificate, and is a Financial Adviser within the SMSF space.

Shona is a Director of both the SMSF Division and Tax Division. She has specialised in Superannuation and Self-Managed Superannuation since 2009 and became a Director in 2014. She loves engaging with all clients and helping them achieve their goals.

Her experience and qualifications give her a comprehensive understanding of the Australian tax and superannuation laws, which allows her to provide professional strategic advice to her valued clients.

Shona has successfully completed post-graduate studies, including the FASEA Financial Adviser exam, to meet the competency requirements under ASIC’s Professional Standards for Financial Advisers, and is authorised to provide financial product advice on Self-Managed Super Funds, such as the establishment of your Self-Managed Super Fund; and providing advice on contribution and pension strategies.

Shona lives locally, and in her spare time enjoys spending time with her family, catching up with friends, watching sport and travelling. Shona supports various local community groups, is a long-term foster carer, and is a volunteer for MS Queensland.

Samantha Sheriff

Director of Accounting

Samantha joined the leadership team at HFB in 2016. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Chartered Accountant qualification, as well as being a registered Tax Agent and a sub-authorised SMSF Financial Services Representative competent under ASIC’s RG146 requirements.

Samantha has had extensive experience over a number of years in assisting small business owners with their business management and tax compliance. In addition, she has also specialised in self-managed super fund compliance during a large portion of this time.

Samantha also has a keen interest in helping businesses with additional business advisory services such as budgeting, cash flow forecasting, software implementation and tax planning. This type of information is essential to a business wanting to make informed decisions and can help to reduce costs and improve profitability.

Samantha lives locally with her husband and two boys and enjoys spending time with them on a 4WD beach getaway or at weekend sporting event.

Joshua McDade

Director

Josh is passionate about his work and his relationships with his clients and his team. He has a wealth of experience applicable to a variety of business matters such as Taxation (including Tax Effective Structures), Business Advisory, Cash Flow Management, Budgeting, Payroll & Superannuation.

Josh specializes in working closely with clients and really getting to know their business needs along with their personal motivations and aspirations. This intimate knowledge of his clients allows Josh to provide boutique solutions and ultimately achieve great long-term outcomes for both their businesses and families.

Josh has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants since 2016 and graduated with a Commerce Degree from the University of Queensland.

Outside of work Josh has a young family and enjoys recharging the batteries by getting away in the 4WD on annual trips over to Stradbroke and Fraser Island.

Peter Armstrong

Director

Peter has worked in finance and small business for all of his career, including managed services businesses, retail and wholesale, banking and hospitality. He has extensive knowledge and skills to assist our clients in the leadership, management and growth of their business. Coaching team and clients are a passion for Peter and the key to many of his client’s business success.

Having owned and operated several of his own businesses, he knows the importance of ‘The Three Freedoms’ – Financial freedom – more money, Time freedom – life balance and Mind freedom – less Stress. He has dealt with all aspects of a business from financials to IT management, strategic and business planning, marketing and sales, HR, team culture and performance, which places him as one of the more experienced business advisors in his field.

Jodi McKenna

Senior Accountant

Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Business Law) – Griffith University

Jodi joined the team at HFB in 2009.

Outside work, Jodi enjoys the adventures and chaos that comes with raising three busy children with her husband Bill, as well as walking, and a good wine. The Leukaemia Foundation Qld holds a special place in Jodi’s heart, and she supports their fund raising activities.

Desley Hodgson

Senior Accountant

Bachelor of Business (Accounting) – University of Southern Qld

Desley has been in the accounting and tax profession for over 30 years. She takes pleasure in getting to know clients, listening to their goals and helping to achieve them in a friendly and helpful manner.

Her interests include gardening, renovating, tennis, watching footy and listening to music.

Chris Baird

Senior Accountant

Bachelor of Business (Accounting) – Queensland University of Technology

Chris is passionate about having good working relationships with his clients and his team. He has over 7 years of experience assisting clients with business management and tax compliance. He also assists clients with software implementation (specifically all things Xero), tax planning and bookkeeping.

Outside of work Chris enjoys travelling the world, attending music festivals and is an avid follower of sport.

Danielle Barrow

SMSF Senior Associate

Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Advanced Tax) – Queensland University of Technology

Danielle started working in the accounting and taxation profession in 1998. For the last 17 years, her career has focussed on superannuation and self-managed super funds. Danielle is a member of CANZ (Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand) and has a Diploma of Superannuation Management from Macquarie University.

Danielle was born in The Netherlands and immigrated to the Redlands as a young child. She still lives locally with her husband and two children and after commuting to the Gold Coast and Brisbane City for work, she is delighted to be working close to home. In her spare time Danielle enjoys baking, going to the movies, reading and spending time with family & friends.

Craig Elsley

Senior Associate

Bachelor of International Business/Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) – Griffith University

Craig is a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years of experience in small & medium business advice. Craig joined our team in 2022 and is a Registered Tax Agent as well as authorised to give limited SMSF advice under ASIC’s RG146 requirements.

Craig is driven to change accounting from solving problems as they arise to being your first contact when you’ve got that new idea or different direction for the business. Craig has worked with a broad range of industries on their tax planning, internal processes, cash flow and budgeting and loves to get the quirky and unique problems specific to each industry.

Craig enjoys a whiskey or two, a bunch of rock climbing, motorbikes and tennis, and never enough golf.

Wendy Litherland

Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting – Chartered Accountants of Australia & New Zealand

Justice of the Peace (Qualified)

Wendy joined HFB June 2019, and specialises in the tax and compliance of SME’s.  She enjoys working with her business clients and is particularly passionate about the problem solving nature of working in the tax industry and staying on top of all the legislative changes and industry news.  As a local, she enjoys getting to work with such a diverse range of clients from the local community as well as working with clients from further afield.

If she’s not at work, you can usually find her either with her head in a book, or down at the Gabba, cheering on the Brisbane Lions.

 

Alyssa Edens

Accountant

Master of Business (Professional Accounting)Queensland University of Technology

Alyssa joined the HFB team in 2019. She has a Master’s of Professional Accounting and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Alyssa is passionate about her work, being part of the HFB team and helping clients. Alyssa loves animals, anything active outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Cate Morse

Accountant

Bachelor of Business (Accounting) – Queensland University of Technology

Cate has worked at HFB since late 2017 when she joined the administration team. Since completing her university degree, she now splits her days working between both the taxation and superannuation teams. Cate enjoys the variety of work that she can undertake at HFB.

In her spare time, Cate enjoys going to the beach, and spending quality time with her friends and family.

Jeffrey Chui

Accountant

Bachelor of Business (Finance and Economics) – Queensland University of Technology

Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting) – University of Queensland

With a comprehensive background in F&A, Jeffrey understands a variety of business models so is able to determine what economic methods best suit for his clients’ required goals.

Jeffrey is an efficient and result-oriented tax accountant and business advisor to Australian corporations and individuals.  He works collaboratively with his clients to help find the best solutions that are tailored to their situation, goals and future needs.

Being an investor in Cryptocurrency and NFTs, Jeffrey is passionate about helping the community with his business and tax knowledge as well as bringing people onboard to this emerging space.

 

Nick Davis

Accountant

Bachelor of Business & Commerce – Griffith University

Nick joined the HFB team in 2021 whilst also completing his Bachelor of Business & Commerce degrees at Griffith University. He enjoys immersing himself in Taxation, Bookkeeping and Compliance. 

Outside of the office, Nick enjoys sport, music and travelling. He frequently plays basketball and DJs on the weekend.

 

 

Jack Lane

Undergraduate Accountant

Jack joined HFB in 2021 in a part-time role while completing his university degree, working in administration before moving into the taxation team.

Away from the office, Jack ­­can usually be found playing and watching many sports and enjoys hanging out with his friends and family.

Ben Raikuna-Jones

Undergraduate Accountant

Ben joined HFB in 2022 in a part-time role while completing his university double degree in Business and Psychology, currently working in administration. He enjoys the client interaction and going above and beyond for others.

Outside of office hours, Ben can usually be found 4x4ing on the beach, watching the footy or hanging out with family and friends.

Alison Pearce

Alison has over 15 years’ experience
in finance administration.

Alison has excelled in client engagement and prides herself in interacting with our clients to achieve client satisfaction.

She lives in the Redlands, and enjoys spending time with her family and friends and being involved in her children’s schooling activities.

Stacey Van Der Merwe

Executive Assistant

Stacey has over 15 years’ experience in the Financial Planning Industry and holds formal qualifications including a Diploma of Financial Planning. 

Stacey now enjoys her role as an Executive Assistant to our team.

She lives locally and enjoys spending time with her young family and friends, she loves the great outdoors too.

Cath Bigham

Reception

Cath has over 16 years’ experience in accounting administration. 

She enjoys camping and spending time with her family and friends.

Cath loves the daily interaction with clients ensuring to provide a positive experience at all times.

Mirna Lukic

Accounting Administration

Mirna joined our team in 2020 and brings her own personal flair to the office.

She earned her University Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Biotechnology in Croatia. She lived and worked in Dublin, Ireland for several years before making her lifelong dream come true and settling in sunny Queensland.

Mirna thoroughly enjoys helping clients through the administration maze, making sure no signatures are missed and lodgement due dates are met.
