Paula completes Variety Jetrek!

One of our accountants, Paula, her husband and son, as “Team D8on”, recently completing another successful Variety Jet Trek – Portland to Phillip Island in Victoria.  Howe Ford & Boxer proudly sponsored their team.

The weather was not typically Victorian, but more like what Queenslanders take for granted.  The big seas did not really eventuate, with only 3 meter swells, and only two days of bad weather – the first and the last.  The coastline is spectacular from the water with the sheer cliff walls.  We were blessed to be entertained by seals, and dolphins swam with us and the fairy penguins made an appearance on the last day as we rode to Phillip Island.

Some statistics from Trek:

The Variety Jet Trek this year, as an event, had a profit of $141,000 from 53 jet ski entries. Team D8on managed to raise $6,500  for the disabled and disadvantaged children of Queensland. The jet skis were ridden over a distance of 689 kilometers.

During the Trek they got to meet a number of kids and their families that Variety has assisted and heard their heart-warming stories.  On the last night they got to meet a special girl and her assistance dog.  It is truly amazing what a difference these dogs make in the life of the child and the improvement in their quality of life.  One assistance dog costs around $25000 to train, so hopefully the proceeds from the Trek will assist Variety to be able to provide a few more to deserving families.
